Then you will pick up your spool of thread and set it on the spool pin. Typically the pin is located on the top of the machine. From there, follow the numbered instructions on your machine. I love Janome machines though because they usually have little numbers printed right on the machine’s body to keep you following the correct path. It’s like a little treasure map for your thread!
Draw thead from the spool and wind down around tension discs. You’ll feel a little resistance here, and that’s good. Then pass the thread through the take up lever. You’ll wrap the thread around the bobbin a few times and then pull it through a tiny slit or hole in the side of the bobbin case. Normally you do this by lightly holding the top thread and turning the hand wheel toward you. You should see the bobbin thread make a loop and come through the hole in the needle plate.
